Tournaments

About Our Tournaments:

Each year, for the past 33 years, the DWF has hosted a number of club walleye and perch tournaments. The tourney fees are low, but the level of competition is high. From river jigging to handline trolling to open water trolling tactics on Lake Erie, DWF members can do it all and are willing to share their knowledge and techniques with their fellow members.

For 2026, we have scheduled a total of five events. Take a look at the table below for more details.

Our Tourney’s are organized by boat crew. The Captain must be a DWF member in good standing, but the remainder of the crew may include non DWF members. The number of participants in a single boat crew is limited by the maximum number of passengers your vessel is officially approved to carry but no more than six rods may be used at any time during the tournament. Check out the 2026 rules by clicking HERE.

Tournament hours are typically from sunrise until 1 or 2 pm. Check the schedule below for exact hours by event.

For most events, food and soft drinks are provided for all of our competitors at the wrap up of each event.

At the end of each season, prizes and recognition are awarded to the “Captain of the Year” and the “Angler of the Year.” These honors are determined by a “points” system using the results of all of the year’s events combined. Check out the “Points System Rules” document for full details.

Latest Tournament News:

  • May 2nd, 2026, Our first two tournaments of 2026 were cancelled due to the very low number of signups. This may have been due to the forecasted weather on both scheduled days. Certainly disappointing but we still have the Mike Barkley Memorial Perch Tournament coming up on Sep. 26th. Tournaments 3 & 4 are Charity events hosted by other organizations that the DWF supports. NOTE: You may not sign up for Tournaments 3 and 4 on the DWF Registration Page. Also, The DWF rules and Boundaries do not apply to these two events. Check the information provided by the PMWF and the Swan Boat Club (SBC) for those details.

  • May 19th, 2026, Our next scheduled event, a River and Lake Tournament, is actually the Pointe Mouille Waterfowl Festival’s annual Fishing Tournament/Charity Event. It is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th. It includes great raffles and a fish fry. Signups will be handled by the PMWF Team. Check the flyer below for details.
