Downriver Walleye Federation

Southeast Michigan’s Premier Walleye Fishing Club!

Febuary Meeting Announcement

Our next membership meeting will take place on February 16th starting at 7PM . As always, the kitchen will be offering hot dogs and snacks and our raffle tables will be full. If you’ve been thinking about joining the DWF, come on by for a chance to see what you’ve been missing!

This month’s meeting we are bringing back a blast from the past. We’re calling it a Winter DIY Seminar set up in a “Round Robin” format. You’ll be free to move around the room enjoying a variety of mini seminars. We’ll have Chris McCully providing tips on Lowrance products and even installing updates if you want to bring your unit with you. In addition, we’ll have members Thom McCollum demonstrating how to tie your own stinger hooks, Ed Herrick will be tying crawler harnesses, Ken Loveday will show you how to build your own Walleye Weapon rigs and Paul Doute will be painting jigs. Lots to see and learn but you won’t see any of it at home!

The meeting will kick off at 7:00PM at the Gibraltar Community Center. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

THE DWF’S ANNUAL DUES WILL INCREASE BY $5.00 EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1ST.  Our annual dues will go up by $5.00 on New Year’s Day. That means a single membership will now be $25.00 per year and a family will go up to $35.00 per year. The Downriver Walleye Federation has existed for over thirty years without any increase in dues, but things have finally caught up to us. Most of our ageing equipment is now in desperate need of repair or replacement (especially our event trailer) and inflation has had a big impact on our operating expenses (hall rentals, special event costs etc.).  So please try and view this relatively small increase as an investment in our great club.

Special Announcement

Get To Know Us

  • The Downriver Walleye Federation (DWF) was founded in 1990 with the purpose of uniting walleye anglers that focus their efforts on the Detroit River and Lake Erie. Our primary purpose is to provide the opportunity for our members to exchange ideas and information about what is probably the finest walleye fishing in the world.
  • Each year the DWF hosts a number of club walleye and perch tournaments. The tourney fees are low, but the level of competition is high. From river jigging to handline trolling to deep water trolling tactics on Lake Erie, DWF members can do it all and are willing to share their knowledge and techniques with their fellow members.
  • Additionally, the DWF presents very high quality seminars at its general membership meetings, held on the 3rd Monday of every month except November. Our presenters include professional anglers and charter captains as well as our own “home grown” jigging, trolling and handlining experts. We also feature a variety of other “subject matter experts” covering topics like tackle advice, the health and well being of our waterways and boat/gear maintenance. Our programs are outstanding!
  • We also spice up our monthly meetings with special events like our annual Christmas Party, Club sponsored Fish Fry’s and swap meets. There’s always something good happening with the DWF!
  • The last thing we’ll mention here is that the DWF is very involved in our local community. This involvement includes lot’s of volunteer work and financial support for kids fishing events, veterans fishing events, high school competitive fishing teams, environmental cleanup/awareness programs and other similar activities. Our members are always ready, willing and able to support our area in a variety of ways!
