Monthly Meeting Announcements
Our next Meeting will take place on May 18th at 7pm at the Gibraltar Community Center.
Our featured speaker will be club member Sal Grima. Sal is a long time member and one heckofa fisherman. He’s either been our “Angler of The Year” or very close to it for as long as most of us can remember.
He’s been catching walleyes on the Detroit River and Lake Erie for decades using every presentation you can think of. He’s mastered them all. And at the May meeting he’ll be talking about one of his favorite ways to catch walleyes; Handlining!
Sal is a master at this time honored Detroit River specialty and he has agreed to share his hard earned knowledge and experience with the rest of us. From baits and gear to setups and boat control, we’re in for a great program. And who knows, maybe he’ll even share a secret spot or two.
Be sure and get there early for a good seat!
THE DWF’S ANNUAL DUES INCREASED BY $5.00 EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1ST. Our annual dues went up by $5.00 on New Year’s Day. That means a single membership will now be $25.00 per year and a family membership will be $35.00 per year.
The Downriver Walleye Federation has existed for over thirty years without any increase in dues, but things have finally caught up to us. Most of our ageing equipment is now in desperate need of repair or replacement (especially our event trailer) and inflation has had a big impact on our operating expenses (hall rentals, special event costs etc.). So please try and view this relatively small increase as an investment in our great club.
